-- Raleigh's American Pub -- Located on Telegraph in Berkeley, Raleigh's is a go to for Cal fans on game day, making it one of the busier places around. But if you're willing to dare the crowds, it's well worth it. Better yet, venture to the pub on a day when there's no football and you'll avoid the mass of students and alumni. Their onion rings are a great complement to their burgers and beer selection. And the back enclosed patio is great for eating and socializing on a nice afternoon.
-- Boudin Bakery -- Boudin has been a San Fransico staple for over 150 years, and has since expanded to have both bakery and restaurant locations throughout California. Their freshly baked sourdough is some of the best I have had, and the variety of sandwiches they offer ensures everyone can find something satisfying. My personal favorites are the Turkey Avocado sandwich, BLT melt, Waldorf and Classic Caesar salads, and Rustic Tomato Soup in a sourdough bread bowl. Their location at Fisherman's Wharf downtown also boasts a sit-down restaurant Bistro Boudin, with a more substantial menu that also incorporates their acclaimed sourdough.
