Three to try in Orange County

-- Javier's -- Javier's has two Orange County locations, one in Irvine Spectrum with more of a relaxed feel and one in Crystal Cove that feels a little more intimate and offers stunning ocean views. In addition to a great atmosphere and option of patio seating, Javier's offers regional Mexican inspired cuisine including chile colorado, chile verde, mole poblano and enchiladas suizas. While substitutions are not allowed, the menu provides a fairly wide variety of options to choose from. For those looking for a lively spot for drinks and a little to eat, the cantina (bar areas of their restaurants) offers limited appetizers.

-- Pacific Whey Cafe -- Pacific Whey is a quick service bistro with three Orange County locations offering breakfast, lunch and dinner at an affordable price. Breakfast options include french toast pockets filled with raspberry cream cheese, omelettes and scrambles and variety of freshly baked pastries. Lunch/dinner guests can enjoy their choice of many sandwiches, salads and traditional dinner options, like chicken tenders, meatloaf, lasagna and more, in addition to the breakfast menu. What's nice about Pacific Whey is you get freshly prepared food with great flavor with the casual atmosphere and convenience.

-- The Hat -- The Hat started in the San Gabriel area and has been a southland favorite for their pastrami sandwiches for over 50 years. Lake Forest and Brea are their only Orange County locations, but its worth the drive for their chili fries, onion rings, and pastrami dip sandwich. Everything about The Hat is no frills, but sometimes simpler is just better. Their menu also offers burgers, roast beef dip and cold sandwiches. And be warned, the portions are large, so make sure you've got an appetite or plan to share, especially if you're planning on trying a side.
